Familiar faces, first-name basis.
We're a small, close-knit team united by a genuine love for animals and a commitment to making every visit as calm and positive as possible — for pets and their people. Small enough to know every patient — skilled enough for whatever comes through the door.

Lead Veterinarian
Dr. Gordon Tan
BVMS BSc, Murdoch University
Gordon graduated from Murdoch University, Perth and made the move across the continent to begin his exciting career in Rockhampton, Central Queensland for 6 years. There he focused on being a general practice and an emergency veterinarian, as well as treating a variety of wildlife (sugar-gliders, echidnas, platypus, kangaroos, and wedge-tail eagles, to name a few), and zoological animals (from crocodiles, a baboon, wombats to a chimpanzee), before moving back to Perth to be close to family and friends. From 2010, Gordon has been the primary vet at Bentley Veterinary Hospital, practicing with a simple belief that great vet care should feel personal, unhurried, and kind to both people and pets alike. With over two decades of experience, he has developed an interest in soft tissue surgery, as well as internal medicine. Outside of work, you'll find Gordon playing basketball with his son, building model kits and lounging with his two whippets (Dexter and Stormi), and his cat, Tofu.

Kalinda Peterson
Cert IV Veterinary Nursing · 5 years experience
Kalinda joined us after qualifying in 2021, and her gentle, compassionate nature quickly became a comfort to frightened pets and worried owners alike. She has a gift for making animals feel safe and loved at their most vulnerable moments, and she treasures the relationships she builds with every family who walks through the door. Nothing excites her more than hand-rearing orphaned baby animals — she pours patience, warmth and tiny comforts into giving them a second chance. When Kalinda's not at the clinic, she brings that same tenderness to her work as a disability support worker, where she adores a spirited 4‑year‑old girl with cerebral palsy and developmental delays. On her days off, she delights in simple, joyful adventures with her own 3‑year‑old — playgrounds, little cafés and hours of play that fill both their hearts. Her care, warmth and quiet joy make her a treasured part of our team.

Shani Hana
Cert IV Veterinary Nursing · 14+ years experience
Shani fell in love with animals early — as a child she used to bring the family pets to Bentley Vet Hospital, and when she qualified in 2012 she began her career here! Although she left after 7 years with us, she returned to join the team again in 2022. Shani delights in patient recovery, dental work, and fostering kittens (four of which she happily adopted). A devoted cat and bird lover, she has worked at Cat Haven and volunteered with the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre. Outside of work she enjoys gardening, camping, and long walks with the dogs.
